We Empower Our People

To Empower Your People

Every recruiter has a black book. What makes us different is our people, and the values that underpin our approach.

Tired of recruiters telling you that they ‘bridge the skills gap’ in IT? So are we.

We strip recruitment back to its core elements – adapting the knowledge, experience and passion of our people to the needs of yours. It’s a simple approach but an effective one, ensuring you find that perfect fit for your team and culture.

We take pride in our tenacity, and believe that the best recruiters love what they do. That’s why we empower our team to use their initiative on every assignment, and have taken the time to ensure that our own culture is one that people want to be a part of.

This passion for our work makes us easy to deal with; we always go further to get the job done. Whether we’re working with a Director, Head of Department, or entire HR team, we respect your processes and keep everyone in the loop.

By focusing on people, we aim to bring a more genuine approach to recruitment, and build long-term relationships with the businesses and candidates we support. So why not arrange a coffee with us? We’d love to get to know you.

The ON:iT Recruitment Team

Richard Young

Rich Young

Co-Founder & Managing Director

My passion is business: during my ten years in recruitment, I’ve always loved getting to know the industries and organisations I’ve supported. Having worked in the public sector, oil and gas, property and construction, I was drawn to IT recruitment because the sector’s seemingly limitless potential excited me, especially information security.

I’ve experienced the various ways in which agencies approach recruitment; for me, the best results come through long-term partnerships, not shortcuts. I also believe that, to keep clients happy, you need to create an environment that people want to work for. Through ON:iT, I wanted to lay down a blueprint for delivering a simple, honest service.

When I’m not at work, I like getting out and about, spending time with Missy my bulldog – although you can often find her at our office, too! – or catching up with friends over a few drinks in town. These days I spend quite a bit of time in the city, but I do love escaping back home to the countryside for a bit of clay pigeon shooting when I can. For my sins I also like keeping up to date with the ups (and downs) of my team Manchester United.

My passion is building and maintaining relationships. Since joining recruitment back in 2011, I’ve seen how different companies approach this. I started in a medium-sized firm, gaining experience in IT support and infrastructure, before moving into a large organisation where I had the freedom to hone my capacity to cater to clients’ needs.

Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate that different approaches work for different people. Through ON:iT, I wanted to take the best bits of recruitment, while empowering our staff to express themselves and deal genuinely with our clients. I’m responsible for growing and managing the team, so culture is important to me.

When I’m not meeting clients or in the office, you can find me spending time with family or cheering from the sidelines at sports games. I’m a huge fan of both ice hockey and football; we sponsor players for Manchester Storm and Stockport County, so I try to get to as many matches as I can.

Executive Director – Delivery

My passion is helping clients and candidates find the perfect fit for their role or skillset. I quickly realised this on joining recruitment back in 2008, and have spent the past ten years developing my expertise on the delivery side. Most of this has centred around IT recruitment, which has enabled me to develop a broad understanding of technology, with a focus on infrastructure and business intelligence.

I really get a buzz out of doing a good job for a client, and working with them again on future vacancies, no matter how complex. That’s what I love about ON:iT Recruitment: while we each have specialisms, our consultants can recruit contractors and permanent staff across the board, meaning we can work as an extension of our clients’ businesses.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my family – especially my wife and two cats. I like to stay active through sport, mainly Football, Bouldering and Running. I also enjoy travelling the world and exploring new places, with recent trips to Hong Kong, Philippines and Egypt

Jessica Jolly

Senior Consultant – Data & Business Intelligence

My passion is delivering great results for clients and candidates. I discovered recruitment during a summer placement whilst at university and really enjoyed the fast-paced, challenging nature of the work.

I thrive under pressure; even the most demanding of job vacancies don’t phase me. Over the years, I’ve gained experience in all aspects of IT recruitment and now specialise in DevOps & Cloud – the hottest emerging market in the sector.

In my eyes, building strong relationships and striking the balance in serving both clients and candidates is the key to success. I joined ON:iT Recruitment because they give me the tools I need to manage my time and excel in my role. It’s not about quick wins here – it’s about getting to know the people we support to find the right solution for them.

When I’m not at work, I like to stay active – shopping, cooking, going to the gym, socialising with friends and getting outdoors with my dogs. My family are from Nottingham, so I try to visit them regularly, too.

Senior Consultant – Business Change & IT Transformation

My passion is people. Even before my time in recruitment, I always worked in roles that involved helping others. When I joined the sector four years ago, I quickly worked my way up to client-facing roles and was drawn to Business Change and IT Transformation. It’s a niche that is very people-focused.

I love building relationships with candidates and clients, and helping them stay up to date with changes in the tech world. My work means that I know about upcoming trends, often before most other people. That’s why I joined ON:iT Recruitment: they empower me to empower others with the information and support they need to grow.

When I’m not in the office, you’ll either find me cheering from the sidelines at an ice hockey match – I’m a huge Manchester Storm fan – or looking after my growing tribe of guinea pigs!

My passion is being part of a team and working together to get the best results. This is what drives me as a defenceman for Manchester Storm, and what inspired me to join ON:iT Recruitment as a delivery consultant.

Just like at Storm, there’s a great team dynamic here at ON:iT and I’m really happy to be a part of it. It’s flexible, fast-paced work that sits perfectly alongside my ice hockey training and studies at Salford University.

I love Manchester and it’s so easy to get around to do stuff – which is very different to my hometown in Canada. I try to get out to play golf or catch a movie on the weekends, and right now I’m also working on my dissertation for my Masters’ degree.

Missy The Bulldog

Head of Mischief

My passion is causing mischief. Rich brings me to work because he thinks it will help us win business, but I have other ideas.... When I'm not at my station patrolling the office and watching the world go by, I plot ways to distract the team in whatever way I can. I've got puppy eyes down to a T, so they can never refuse a chance to have fun.

I take my duties as Head of Mischief very seriously, as I don't want to be associated with a stuffy recruitment firm. Thankfully, it helps that we're in a pretty cool office space - and there are plenty of other dogs hanging around WeWork who keep me company when the team have their heads down!

Or in other words: woof woof woof. Rrrrr woof! Woof woo woo woo woof. Woof woof.

Biggie The Bulldog

Head of Leads

My passion is bringing in leads…but to be honest, I’m actually happiest when I’m not tied to a lead of my own.

It’s hard work being the Head of Leads. Whilst Missy spends her days bouncing around the office, I constantly have to put on my cutest face to convince clients and visitors to stick around a little longer.

I’m notorious for getting my own way, and I don’t want to sound big-headed, but I’m probably the most lovable, persuasive bulldog in the office. Not that there’s much competition :-p. Just come on down and see for yourself…
