Aled Johnson

Lead Recruitment Specialist - Software Engineering

My passion is helping clients and candidates find the perfect fit for their role or skillset. I quickly realised this on joining recruitment back in 2008, and have spent the past ten years developing my expertise on the delivery side. Most of this has centred around IT recruitment, which has enabled me to develop a broad understanding of technology, with a focus on Software Engineering.

I get a buzz out of doing an excellent job for a client, and working with them again on future vacancies, no matter how complex. That’s what I love about ON:iT Recruitment: while we each have specialisms, our consultants can recruit contractors and permanent staff across the board, meaning we can work as an extension of our clients’ businesses.

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my family – especially my wife and two cats. I like to stay active through sport, mainly Football, Bouldering and Running. I also enjoy travelling the world and exploring new places, with recent trips to Hong Kong, Philippines and Egypt

Lead Recruitment Specialist - Data & Analytics

My passion is building and maintaining relationships. Since joining recruitment back in 2011, I’ve seen how different companies approach this. I started in a medium-sized firm, gaining experience in IT support and infrastructure, before moving into a large organisation where I had the freedom to hone my capacity to cater to clients’ needs.

Over the years, I’ve come to appreciate that different approaches work for different people. Through ON:iT, I wanted to take the best bits of recruitment, while empowering our staff to express themselves and deal genuinely with our clients. I’m responsible for growing and managing the team, so the culture is important to me.

When I’m not meeting clients or in the office, you can find me spending time with family or cheering from the sidelines at sports games. I’m a massive fan of both ice hockey and football; we sponsor players for Manchester Storm and Stockport County, so I try to get to as many matches as I can.

My passion is people. Even before my time in recruitment, I always worked in roles that involved helping others. When I joined the sector six years ago, I quickly worked my way up to client-facing roles and was drawn to DevOps & Cloud. It's a fascinating niche that is evolving every day.

I love building relationships with candidates and clients and helping them stay up to date with changes in the tech world. My work means that I get to network with some of the most intelligent people in tech, meaning I keep my knowledge of industry trends up to date and then help to educate others. That's why I joined ON:iT Recruitment: they empower me to empower others with the information and support they need to grow.

When I'm not in the office, you'll either find me cheering from the sidelines at an ice hockey match – I'm a huge Manchester Storm fan – or looking after my growing tribe of guinea pigs!

Lead Recruitment Specialist - Cyber & InfoSec

My passion is business: during my ten years in recruitment, I’ve always loved getting to know the industries and organisations I’ve supported. Having worked in the public sector, oil and gas, property and construction, I was drawn to IT recruitment because the sector’s seemingly limitless potential excited me, especially cyber and information security.

I’ve experienced the various ways in which agencies approach recruitment; for me, the best results come through long-term partnerships, not shortcuts. I also believe that to keep clients happy, and you need to create an environment that people want to work in. Through ON:iT, I wanted to lay down a blueprint for delivering a simple, honest service.

When I’m not at work, I like getting out and about, spending time with Missy my bulldog – although you can often find her at our office, too! – or catching up with friends over a few drinks in town. These days I spend quite a bit of time in the city, but I do love escaping back home to the countryside for a bit of clay pigeon shooting when I can. For my sins, I also like keeping up to date with the ups (and downs) of my team Manchester United.
