Our Sales Director, Chris Bailey, gives us a glimpse at what gets him out of bed in a morning, and shares his insights into the IT sector.

Tell me about your role at ON:iT

As Sales Director, my role is to build relationships with new clients and ensure that our existing ones are happy with the service we’re providing. By working closely alongside our clients on a long-term basis, I strive to make us their go-to partners for all areas of IT recruitment.

I’m also in charge of growing and managing our team, making sure that we find IT specialists with the right experience and attitude. Over the coming year, we have exciting plans to build out our sales team, and I’m leading the strategy.

Whats your specialist area in IT recruitment?

My background is in IT support and infrastructure, which pretty much covers any role that helps your systems to stay active. It’s a broad area, but an important one, and can include service desk roles, infrastructure engineers, networking specialists and more, from support functions right through to Director level.

During my time as a recruiter, I’ve seen the different approaches companies take to bringing on and managing clients first hand. Having developed my own approach over the years - I wanted a chance to showcase my capabilities.

What makes ON:iT different?

During my time as a recruiter, I’ve seen the different approaches companies take to bringing on and managing clients first hand. Having developed my own approach over the years – one that has been highly successful in keeping both new and existing clients happy – I wanted a chance to showcase my capabilities.

ON:iT Recruitment takes the best bits of the industry, while giving my team and I the freedom to add our own touches. People buy from people, which is why I believe a genuine, honest approach is far better than following a rigid corporate structure.

Joining the business has enabled me to put my experience and passion to the test, and it’s hugely rewarding to see this pay off when dealing with clients.

When youre not at work, what do you get up to?

I’m lucky to have an amazing family around me, which means I spend a lot of my free time travelling to visit relatives. My partner and I are also really into sports, so you’ll regularly find me cheering from the sidelines at an ice hockey or football game. In fact, ON:iT Recruitment sponsor both Manchester Storm and Stockport County, so it’s even more of an excuse to go watch a match when I can….

Where do you see the IT sector heading in 2018?

Going into 2017, everyone was talking about the cloud. These predictions have come to fruition – most businesses are migrating their systems by now. In 2018, business intelligence is going to be the buzzword.

Some businesses are ahead of the game on this, but we’ve seen a huge surge in BI roles coming through over the past few months, as organisations begin to use data to really drive their business.
